Crispy Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs

This will become a pantry staple in your house it tastes infinitely better than the store bought ones.

It has been a couple of weeks without a recipe. We have been super busy with my husband’s tent meeting and taking a couple days of vacation and I have had no internet signal! Funny huh? I have one today. Just to say “hi” and post a super easy basic that you will make again and again. All it takes is stale bread and seasonings and a oven. It seems homemade bread goes stale faster so I always need to use it up someway or another and this is what I have been doing.

Try these bread crumbs in your next meat loaf or chicken parmesan and you will not be disappointed.

Crispy Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs

About 4 cups of stale bread cut into cubes

2 tablespoons of Italian seasoning

1/2 teaspoon of salt

1.Preheat oven to 325.

2. In a bowl of a food processor, pulse the bread cubes until finely ground crumbs have formed. Pour the crumbs into a medium bowl and add the Italian seasoning ( or omit to make plain bread crumbs ) and salt. Stir to combine.

3. Spread out in an even layer on a rimmed baking sheet and bake at 5 minute intervals for about 20 minutes or until tasted and golden brown. Watch carefully so they do not burn.

4. Let cool in the pan for 30 minutes before using or storing. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or freeze for longer ( just thaw before using ).
