Do you ever have a night where you dont have much time or many ingredients, but want a fresh wholesome meal? This recipe is it! With five ingredients and some seasonings you cant go wrong! There are so many ways to cook an easy meal, but skillet recipes happen to be my favorite way to go. This skillet dinner can be easily adapted to fit your taste, the season or what you have on hand! This version is my favorite.
This pasta comes together in no time. Just boil some noodles and get everything else ready. When the noodles are done so is dinner. This pasta is lighter than delicious alfredo but still tasty. You can use any veggie you want. Use ham and peas, or bacon and tomatoes, leftover chicken and spinach or this sausage and broccoli. You really can not go wrong.

This will become your family favorite meal. Whatever your dinnertime problems are, this dinner is the answer. It is fast! The longest part is waiting for the water to boil. This vitamin- C rich pasta is so simple that there is very little for kids to push against, You will have to restrain yourself from making it more than once a week.
Easy Orecchiette Pasta with Sausage and Broccoli
1 pound of orecchiette pasta or shells
4 garlic cloves, minced
1 small onion, chopped
1 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound of ground italian sausage, pork or turkey
4 cups broccoli
1/2 cup chicken broth
1/2 cup half and half
1 cup parmesan cheese
1. Bring a large pot of water to boil for the pasta and season generously with salt.
2. In a large skillet heat up the oil and saute onions, garlic, until soft about 5 minutes. Add the thyme red chili flakes and cook the ground meat breaking up as you cook.
3. In the meantime boil the noodles 2 minutes less than the box says and add broccoli for the last two minutes.
4. While the noodles boil warm the chicken broth and half and half gently on the stove or microwave. When noodles and broccoli are cooked drain and add to the skillet. Pour in the warm broth and half and half. Toss in the parmesan cheese and stir to coat all the noodles. Serve immediately with more parmesan cheese on the side.
